Introduction:
I am currently working on my M. ED. in Secondary English Instruction and student-teaching. This blog is part of an education course, and I anticipate focused, informed, and interesting discussions!
A little about myself:
Literature has been a challenge and an area of continuing interest and exploration for me. I think that Literature has so much to offer in understanding life. There are many examples of values, relationships, the expressing of ideas, the development of character, solving problems, navigating through experiences, and more in literature. I received a B.A. in English in Spring 2007; however, I wanted to be involved in English Education in order to influence and to help students in understanding, appreciating, and formulating new ideas about literature and writing. Knowing that I had much to learn about teaching, I chose to pursue a M.ED.
In this course (for which the blog was constructed):
I hope to increase my knowledge of methods and activities that may be employed while instructing students in Shakespeare’s plays. I also look forward to researching and learning about multiple literary theories that can inform my students as well as myself while studying a work of literature.
Overall, in this class and throughout my education and work, I look forward to collaborating with colleagues in order to become a more broadly and deeply informed teacher who will be able to engage her students and add to the academic community
